Training and Development

In celebration of our 90th Anniversary, this year's speaker series features several Junior League of Cincinnati Sustainers. These women have benefited from Junior League training over the years, and now they return to help educate current Active and Provisional members, leveraging their experiences and experise. In doing so, these speakers bring to life our mission statement:

The Junior League of Cincinnati is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

In addition, we are please to welcome two professional speakers from our community who have made time to share their knowledge and experience with us.

All seminars are open to members of the Junior League as well as to the surrounding community.  We welcome your attendance and suggestions for future training series. An RSVP to all seminars is suggested, but not required unless otherwise noted. You may do so by calling the Junior League of Cincinnati at 513.871.9339 or via email at jlcoffice@fuse.net.

Enjoy the trainings!

Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die
Paul Smith, Director of Consumer Research Proctor and Gamble
October 6, 2009, 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Columbia Center

You know the direction you need to go. But how do you get your team there? You need to develop and communicate your ideas to be inspirational, memorable, effect change, and stand the test of time. In other words, "sticky".

Chip & Dan Heath spent almost a decade studying ideas spanning the history of mankind: from proverbs in the Bible to dictums made by corporate CEOs that turned around failing organizations, to urban myths spread like wildfire over the internet. They identified six key qualities that seperate sticky ideas from average ones.

This hands-on training illustrates how those qualities can be leveraged in your daily work. The curriculum includes highly creative and successful cases Paul has collected from companies like Proctor & Gamble, Wal-Mart, Disney and others, as wel as the author's original research.
