Junior League of Cincinnati 5K Run/Walk
And Family Festival at Hyde Park Elementary
CINCINNATI – Greater Cincinnati runners and families are invited to participate in the Junior League of Cincinnati 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 9, 1:30 – 4:00 p.m. at Hyde Park Elementary School, 3401 Edwards Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45208. The event will raise heart rates and funds to support the JLC’s commitment to leadership training and volunteering in the community. Former Olympic runner and Cincinnati native Julie Isphording will emcee the race.
Early Registration is available online through October 5 at www.jlcincinnati.org for $30 per adult and $10 per child (10 and under), and includes participation in the 5K Run/Walk and Kids Races and a race t-shirt for the first 150 adult and 50 child registrants. Day-of-race registration is $35. You may also sponsor a child to run for $10.
The adult 5k race starts at 2:30 p.m. and Kid’s Warm Up (presented by BeneFit Studios) and run begin at 3:00 PM, followed by awards and the continuing Family Fun Festival.
The Family Fun Festival, which runs from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. will be a great way for families to unwind after the 5K Run/Walk, and will feature healthy snacks, exercise demonstrations, music, and children’s activities such as face painting, a jump house and plenty of fun, healthy freebies. All proceeds from the race benefit the mission of the Junior League of Cincinnati. “We are excited to host this great event for local runners and their families,” says Melanie Chavez, president of the Junior League of Cincinnati. “The 5k, as well as the Family Fun Festival, emphasize our focus on children and the obesity epidemic. What better way than to exercise with friends and family?”
The Junior League of Cincinnati commits financial and volunteer resources to community projects that further its focus area, Strengthening Childhood Environments.
