How Things Work at the Statehouse with Rachel Coyle

Saturday Sep 14, 2019 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Rachel Coyle, former Statehouse staffer, will join us for discussion on how community members can engage to advocate for legislation at the state level. You will better understand how bills are suggested to legislators, how you can become actively involved to testify for or against a bill, sit in committee, and generally stay engaged in the legislative process. The JLC will look at specific legislation supporting removal of sales tax for feminine hygiene products and disposable diapers among others which align to our mission of supporting women and children.

This event is free and open to the public.

Knock Down the House Documentary Viewing and Discussion with local Women Who Run

Thursday Sep 19, 2019 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM

The Junior League of Cincinnati, Cincinnati Women’s Political Caucus, and Bold New Democracy invite interested community members to join a documentary viewing of “Knock Down the House” at the Columbia Center, 3500 Columbia Parkway, from 6 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, September 19.

First-term State Representatives Sara Carruthers (OH51 – R) and Jessica Miranda (OH28 – D) will join us following the documentary for discussion on their “why” as well as suggestions for women interested in getting more involved in the political arena. We will also have representatives from area organizations such as CWPC, The Matriots, LWVCA and others to answer additional questions about getting involved.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
